ABOUT US

Our award winning Mighty Oak Chorus was formed in 1983 in Visalia with members from throughout Tulare and Kings Counties. The Chorus benefits from membership and affiliation with the 15,000-member Barbershop Harmony Society.

Every Spring the chorus puts on a fun-filled show in Visalia. Throughout the year we perform at various community events such as The Tulare Symphony Concert In The Park, The Kings Fair, The Kingsburg Band Concert, The Springville Summer Concert Series and Christmas Caroling for senior citizens and convalescent centers in Hanford and Visalia.

The Chorus and our various quartets sing a wide range of songs from vaudeville hits of the 1870’s to Broadway hits of the 1930’s and on through today.

MEET OUR DIRECTOR

Kevin first got bit by the “barbershop bug” in his senior year in high school when he joined his school’s audition-only choir on a dare. Then in junior college, he got wrangled into a casual quartet and sang for about a year. At Fresno State, he sang in a couple of a cappella ensembles, but it wasn’t until he graduated that he joined a competitive quartet and the newly formed Voices in Harmony directed by Dr. Greg Lyne.

In 2009, Kevin found himself in the Fresno area. Kevin has since worked as a music director of high schools and middle schools in Parlier, Hanford, Fresno, and now Visalia. He has been a guest conductor at numerous events, festivals, and performing arts camps. Music has taken Kevin across the globe, performing with groups in China, Australia, Mexico City, Canada, and in Carnegie Hall. He has shared the stage with performers such as Celine Dion, Kenny Rodgers, Sarah Chang, Michael Tilson Thomas, and OC Times.
